The SARL National Field Day

To work as many stations in the Southern African SADC region as possible on all the HF amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17 and 12 m bands).

Africa FT4 DX Contest

To promote digital DX activity in Africa. Provide opportunities for Amateurs to use the FT4 digital mode. Contribute to the SARL All Africa Awards. The DX Contest is aimed at all licensed Radio Amateurs in the countries in Africa and the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Islands close to Africa. A separate category is available to non-African contestants.

SARL Wednesday 80 m Club Contest

The Wednesday 80 m Club contest is a Club activity, the scores of individual operators are added together to get a Club score. The Club with the highest score after the four (4) contests will be awarded the SARL 80 m Club Championship Trophy. Encourage amateurs to achieve their Worked All ZS Grid Squares on 80 m.

SARL VHF/UHF FM Mode Contest

The VHF/UHF contest is a test of operator ability and station design. To promote FM activity on the VHF/UHF bands. To provide an opportunity for newly licensed radio amateurs to participate in a contest. To encourage Amateurs to work greater distances than usual by operating Field Stations in favourable locations and by optimising equipment and operating techniques at both field and home stations. To provide opportunities for Amateurs to activate and work new grid squares. The Contest is open to all licensed Radio Amateurs in South Africa, Namibia (V5), Botswana (A2), Zimbabwe (Z2), Mozambique (C9), Lesotho (7P) and ESwatini (3DA). Only contacts with these states will count.

This is a fun activity to encourage all new radio amateurs to become active on HF, collect Grid Squares, and work towards their WAZS.

The SARL 40 m Club Contest is a Club activity, the scores of individual operators are added together to get a Club score. The Club with the highest score after the four (4) contests will be awarded the SARL 40 m Club Championship Trophy. Encourage amateurs to achieve their Worked All Grid Squares on 40 metres.
